Light Lab Quick Look: Fenix GL19R

Overview

We liked the feel and size of the GL19R when we saw it at Shot Show 2022. The switches felt good, with the switch hinging from the bottom of the light upward, which helps keep a high grip when activating the switch. The “out the front” 18350 battery also helps provide good output with recharge capability. Speaking of recharge, a USB-C port on the side allows you to recharge the battery while still in the light. This is a compact light that has quality look and feel.

Summary

The GL19R is a solid little light with respectable output. It provides more of a “flood” style light rather than a high candela hotspot, which some people may prefer in close quarters. Fenix typically rates versus FL-1, and typically meets or beats their specs. It is unexpected that this unit doesn’t meet Fenix’s specs.
